How it started
"I started with a mailer, a folded table, and a room full of chairs — and a promise to teach people something useful."

In 2011, Dr. JWise founded ABAC Properties and built a property management business from the ground up — starting with nothing more than a direct-mail campaign and a full-day educational seminar she hosted to introduce her services to prospective clients. While running that business full time, she earned an MBA from High Point University (2017) and a Doctor of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship from UNC Charlotte (2021), an AACSB-accredited program. Her doctoral research examined social cohesion and entrepreneurship formalization in underserved communities.

2011

Founded ABAC Properties from one mailer and one seminar.

2017–21

Earned her MBA (High Point University) and DBA in Entrepreneurship (UNC Charlotte) while running the business full time.

2020

Founded YU, LLC in Greensboro, NC to formalize the pivot into entrepreneurship education.

TODAY

Assistant Professor of Business & Entrepreneurship at Bennett College; national conference speaker; pursuing NC real estate instructor certification.
